Caffeine High

I got my first lack-of-caffeine induced headache the other day, so I guess that means that I am now officially addicted to coffee. Thankfully that doesn't freak me out nearly as much as it used to. I remember when I was little my dad's love affair with his morning coffee used to cause me no small concern--especially when he told me he "had to have his coffee, or else he'd go into withdrawals". For me, that put coffee right up there with heroin and cocaine. I had a little first-aid kit put together and of course I included a couple packets of instant coffee just in case my dad started writhing on the ground in agony due to not having had his daily dose of caffeine. It sounds ridiculous, but I really thought that would happen, until someone took the time to explain that the worst that would happen was a slight headache and being a little dopey first thing in the morning. --So not a big deal.

I am going through those now too. I started getting used to drinking too much coffee, and it was affecting my sleep at night. I was getting insomnia and everything. So I decided to give it a rest.

First day: headache=advil

Second day: headache=more advil

Third day: headache+rational thinking+the fact that I know that taking advil every day is not good for me=coffee

Fourth day: no headache=I already had my coffee=YAY!

NOT!

I kind of disappointed myself.
I'm sure I'll try again.

Hey, I think I'll blog that.

Yeah Dad and his coffee.
Some of my earliest memories are of Jo, John, and I in that red town ace with the bunkbed in the roof, with Dad telling us to "pipe down" or "cut the racket" while heading to Mcdonalds telling Mom "Honey I can't make it through the day without my coffee." Lol.....I visited our family last year and it was like a dejavu except He was driving to Doutors while talking about Neways.

Ha ha, well, I'm glad it wasn't just me. I was reading my own post and started thinking I must have been a little paranoid or something, making such a big deal over dad's coffee. But since you remember it too, it must have been dad who was the one to make a big deal out of it. David, I'm surprised you remember that, living out of the van.....you were just a toddler then. I remember having a "water" while dad had was getting his coffee fix at McDonalds. And then there was a long time where dad had to have his "blue mountain" can of coffee every day. I remember getting on his case and telling him that he would save at least 45,000yen every year if he gave up coffee. Ha! That was when I was going through my self-righteous adolescent stage.
